Chynna Phillips is a singer, songwriter, and actress who was particularly popular in the 1990s. Now, she is a YouTuber who aims to use her channel to teach people about Jesus, faith, and share stories about how her faith in God has helped her in live. Describing what she wants to accomplish with the channel, Ms. Phillips said she is a “YouTube queen for the King, Jesus!”

Describing what her channel is about in a post on Instagram, for example, Phillips said, “California Preachin has become my HOLY outlet for telling my trauma story, my faith story and ultimately my LOVE story. We all need to know we’re not alone in our life struggles, and we all need a good laugh!”

Speaking about how she tries to view things in a Christian way in one recent video, for example, Phillips said, “I’m going to put my love lenses on today to see things through the power of love – to see things through Christ.” Continuing, she added, “Everything can be seen through the eyes of love. The Bible said that God is love. If God is love then we should be able to see everything through the lenses of love.”

She then went on to add that embracing the faith and letting Jesus into one’s life doesn’t mean you need to be perfect, but rather that by accepting faith, one eschews worldly goals and try to sin less, thus rejecting desires that don’t comport with Christian beliefs. She said, “When we come to Christ, we are not sinless…of course, we are still sinners but we sin less. My fleshy self wants to refuse, reject, and rebel. I want to be my own king, master, and lord.”

Continuing, she explained that her goal isn’t about telling people what to do, but rather to encourage them to think about God and Jesus when making decisions. She said, “I don’t want anyone telling me what to do. That’s just not what Christ calls us to do. Once we give our lives to Jesus, we have a new employer… we’ve got a Boss. We have to run everything past the Boss.”

She also described her early faith journey and how she begged God to help her change her life for the better once she accepted Him into her heart, saying, “I just remember saying, God, what is this all about? Heal my life, make it matter. Make it mean something, make it holy. God is doing what I asked. He’s releasing me of my meaningless and empty life.”

Phillips has also described how she accepted Christ after people prayed for her and she felt the Holy Spirit, saying, “The Holy Spirit has a way of just immediately cracking your heart open. I don’t remember what they prayed over me but then I stood straight up and said, it’s Jesus from this day forward, only Jesus. I live for Him, He’s my life, He’s my purpose, He’s my reason and I will live from this day forward to serve Him. He’s my God.”
