American Missionaries Davy and Natalie Lloyd were tragically killed in Haiti late last month as gangsters raided their compound. Reportedly, their remains have been flown back to the United States over the weekend. The young couple Davy, 23, and Natalie, 21, were known for their dedication to their mission work for children in Haiti.
In the aftermath of their deaths, fundraising campaigns were set up to cover the funeral expenses and cost of transporting their remains back to the United States. A GoFundMe initiative was started by family friend Chris Slinkard and Missouri state Rep. Dirk Deaton. The family’s Pastor, Jeremie Bridges, organized another campaign. As of the writing of this article, Slinkard’s and Bridges’ campaigns have raised over $75,000 and $56,000, respectively.
“Please pray for MO State Representative Ben Baker, wife Naomi Baker, and their family, as well as the Lloyd family their children, Natalie and Davy Lloyd, were serving as missionaries in Haiti and were killed by gangs,” Slinkard’s GoFundMe reads.
‘“Davy and Natalie tragically lost their lives while serving children in Haiti. The goal of this fundraiser is to provide funds to assist with funerals and the transportation costs of returning them to the U.S.,” states Bridges on the fundraising page. “The family is so grateful for all the prayers and condolences. Thank you for considering giving,” per Pastor Bridge’s fundraising campaign.
On Saturday, Slinkard shared an update, stating, “Natalie and Davy are back home in Neosho, MO.” Furthermore, Cassidy Anderson, a family spokesperson, released a statement before the remains of the couple being flown back to the U.S. “Transport has been completely secured for Natalie and Davy’s remains to come home! There will be no release of information regarding specific timeline, airline, or airports being used to ensure the highest level of security,” according to Cassidy.
Natalie was also the daughter of Missouri state Rep. Ben Baker, who shared an update last week on behalf of the Baker and Lloyd families. The state representative noted that the bodies of Davy and Natalie were en route back home, where they asked for privacy in the aftermath of their murders.
“This morning, the remains of Davy and Natalie Lloyd safely took off on a flight back to the United States- there will be a series of layovers, and they will safely reach Neosho, Missouri tomorrow afternoon. It is the family’s deepest wish that the media do not attend the touchdown, and do not show up to the funeral home to allow for privacy. There will be Highway Patrol present to ensure this. We are praising the Lord for his hand of protection over this nightmare. Funeral services will be early next week, with more details to come tomorrow,” Baker shared on X.
Former President Donald Trump addressed the deaths of the young Christian missionaries, calling for the perpetrators to be held accountable. “God bless Davy and Natalie. Such a tragedy. Haiti is totally out of control. Find the killers NOW!!!” Baker shared on Facebook, “Just got off the phone with Donald J. Trump a bit ago who was just calling to offer condolences for Davy and Natalie to Naomi and I.”
