Following President-elect Donald Trump’s landslide victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, pro-life, Christian votes are celebrating. Harris was the subject of substantial criticism among Christians, particularly surrounding her stance on abortion, which many view as extreme.
Following the election, the Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President reacted to the results, noting it was the first presidential election since the landmark Supreme Court ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson that determined there is no constitutional right to an abortion.
“In the first presidential election since Dobbs, Americans have rejected the Democrats’ no-limits abortion agenda. Democrats led by Kamala Harris and Tim Walz went ‘all in’ on abortion as their number one issue. In the general election alone, they spent over half a billion dollars on ads attacking pro-life Republicans and claiming limits on abortion kill women. Their lies failed,” the group said.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser also released a statement that read, “In the first presidential election since Dobbs, Americans have rejected the Democrats’ no-limits abortion agenda. Democrats led by Kamala Harris and Tim Walz went ‘all in’ on abortion as their number one issue.”
Danenfelser continued, “In the general election alone, they spent over half a billion dollars on ads attacking pro-life Republicans and claiming limits on abortion kill women. Their lies failed. Millions of Americans heard President Trump and others challenge Harris and Walz to name their limits, even for painful late-term abortions of healthy babies, and get no answers. Millions learned the truth that the Democrats would force Americans to pay for and participate in abortions against their will, with no exceptions, and even leave babies who survive failed abortions to die.”
She further noted that there is substantial work ahead to undo the abortion stances of the Biden-Harris administration. “Now the work begins to dismantle the pro-abortion policies of the Biden-Harris administration. President Trump’s first-term pro-life accomplishments are the baseline for his second term. In the long term, GOP pro-life resolve must be strengthened and centered on the unalienable right to life for unborn children that exists under the 14th Amendment. In America, where you live should never determine whether you live. Across the nation there are still hundreds of thousands of babies to save and moms to serve and we can’t stop fighting for them now.”
Furthermore, Chelsey Youman, a national legislative advisor with the network of pro-life pregnancy centers, Human Coalition Action, praised the results of the election as a “clear rejection of an extreme abortion agenda.” She said, “The Harris-Walz ticket’s extreme abortion politics were out-of-touch with Americans. They pushed taxpayer-funded abortion-on-demand throughout pregnancy, wanted to throw out protections for babies who survive abortions, and promised to force health care workers to perform abortions against their conscientious beliefs.”
The Christian Tribune previously reported on comments from Shawn Carney, the founder of the national pro-life organization, “40 Days For Life” who discussed the “huge” victory for Trump. “Well, I think the victory is huge for Catholic voters. I mean, Trump, handedly, won the Catholic vote,” he said. “Catholics. always got the impression from from really frank Biden Harris administration that they hate Catholics and they hate religion in general,” he added.
