Republican Congressman Speaks Of Dangers Of Growing Potential Influence Of Sharia Law

Momentum continues to grow within the Republican Party against the importation of Muslim immigrations and quite relatedly, the importation of the form of governance associated with their faith. In a powerful refutation against submission to government through religious force, Representative Keith Self denounced Sharia law while also advancing the new Sharia-Free America Caucus in Washington, D.C.

“Sharia is far more than a personal faith—it’s a culture of governance and domination that pushes submission through violence,” Self said on the social media platform X alongside the video. “We must never accommodate a system that demands the submission of every surrounding society.”

Speaking from the House floor, Self can then be seen warning against the neoliberal notion that all people, cultures, and beliefs are equal. Pointing out the stark difference between Christianity and Islam, for example, he observed Christianity is a ‘religion of peace’ whereas Islam ‘is a religion of the sword. Watch him below:

“Sharia poses a unique and profound danger. It is far more than a personal faith. It is a comprehensive system of governance, culture and domination that enforces submission through violence,” Self declared. “All cultures are not morally equivalent, whereas Christianity is the religion of peace, of reconciliation, of love, Islam is a religion of the sword.”

Continuing, he highlighted the need to have a Creator that stands above a government system instead of a human figure standing in for one. “It stands in direct irreconcilable conflict with a maximum individual freedom at the heart of Western civilization and our Judeo-Christian heritage, our rights derive from our Creator, not from any man made supremacist,” Self went on.

Building on that idea, the Texas congressman said America could never give space to people who would demand submission of everyone else. “Code America gladly welcomes those who come to assimilate and worship freely according to conscience, but we must never accommodate a system that demands the submission of every surrounding society,” Self added.

The speech against Sharia law sounded reminiscent of another America First politician, Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville, who has repeatedly used his platform to wake up Americans against the growing threat posed by massive numbers of Muslim immigrants.

“The Quran calls on Muslims to wage ‘jihad’ or holy war against nonbelievers,” the coach-turned-politician wrote on X on November 9th. “This is INCOMPATIBLE with American values and laws. We must BAN SHARIA LAW before Radical Islam destroys our country.” The post echoes a similar sentiment shared by America First Congressional candidate Valentina Gomez, who likewise released her own commentary calling for a ‘total Muslim ban’ in America.
In early October, the Alabama Senator gave an impassioned speech from the floors of

Congress outlining the ‘crossroads’ at which America found itself. He lamented the presence of political correctness that has thus far allowed anti-American values to creep in uncontested. Indeed, it is as if most Americans would rather be subjected to Sharia law itself than be labeled an Islamophobe.

“I truly believe we’re at the crossroads of this country,” Tuberville said during his remarks. “The time for political correctness is over. That’s why I’ve introduced two bills in the Senate to end Sharia law in this country. End it. The first one is no Sharia Act which makes it illegal to practice Sharia law when it conflicts with our Constitution.”
