Rev. Franklin Graham recently announced that he would be launching the Billy Graham Defense Fund, a group that offers support for Christians in the United Kingdom facing persecution for their faith. As Western society is seemingly becoming more hostile toward Christianity, it is ever-more essential for an initiative such as Graham’s.
“There are so many problems in our society, and people are looking for hope,” Graham said in a statement reported by CBN News. “We know that true hope can only be found in Jesus Christ, so we need to support one another in getting the Good News of Jesus Christ out — whatever it takes.”
Graham hopes his efforts will encourage Christians in the U.K. to be bold in their faith in Jesus Christ. “It is my prayer that this will encourage Christians across the U.K. to keep living out and sharing their faith freely and boldly,” the prominent faith leader added.
He continued, “We took a stand for the Gospel and for freedom of religion in the U.K. Now we’re going to use these funds that came from this battle against cancel culture to help other Christians who may be threatened into silence.”
Graham has recently embarked on a ministry in Glasgow, Scotland, as part of his God Loves You Tour, evangelizing to large crowds. “Who is Jesus? Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God who came from heaven to earth on a rescue mission to save us from our sins,” the evangelist shared in a Facebook post.
Demonstrating the power of sharing the Gospel, Graham celebrated that hundreds of people made the decision to put their faith in Jesus Christ. “It was a privilege to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ to a full house at the OVO Hydro auditorium in Glasgow. Hundreds of people made the most important decision of their lives tonight—to turn from their sins and come to Jesus Christ in repentance and faith. I told the crowd that what God wants is your heart. We praise Him for every heart He made new tonight!” he added.
Graham concluded the post by sharing a verse from 2 Corinthians, illustrating the new life one finds when one gives one’s life to Christ. He further thanked the assortment of other artists who contributed to the powerful event.
