Rev. Franklin Graham, son of famed evangelist Billy Graham, recently took a trip to Texas to preach along the border and try to bring peace and prayer to those communities that are suffering right now and want to turn toward Christ. During his Eagle Pass speech, Rev. Graham encouraged people to pray to God and fill their lives with prayer and hope.
During his trip to the border, Rev. Graham noted that he was there because the locals are having a “tough time,” saying, “People down here are discouraged. I’m talking about the local people, the Texans that live here. It’s tough — the border patrols are having a tough time, the state of Texas law enforcement is having a tough time. The people that live here are overwhelmed.”
Continuing, he added that it is those dark days that make now “one of the best opportunities for us to be able to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to these people here on the border.” He added, “I want them to know that God hasn’t forgotten them, we haven’t forgotten them, and we’re going to do all we can to try to help.”
He then encouraged prayer, saying, “Pray for Texas, pray for this border, pray for Mexico. So many people are coming with hungry hearts, hurting hearts. They don’t know where to go, what to do, and they’re looking for just an opportunity at life.”
Posting about his visit on Facebook, Rev. Graham said, “Eagle Pass, Texas, is in the news again because former president Donald J. Trump is scheduled to visit there tomorrow. I was there today—not for politics—but to preach the Gospel to the hungry and hurting hearts of this community. The people of this small town have been through so much with the border crisis—it was a blessing to be there with them tonight and tell them about God’s love for them.”
He continued, “The Maverick County Amphitheater was packed, and we had an overflow area where more people could watch the music and message. I can’t describe the joy as hundreds of people—young and old—came forward at the invitation to repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ. Their lives are changed for eternity.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Tomorrow night, we’ll take the #GodLovesYou tour to Del Rio.”
In a follow-up post, he added, “Last night I preached in Eagle Pass, Texas. There was a cold north wind blowing, but hundreds of hearts warmed to the truth of God’s love and the Gospel. I’m going to be preaching in Del Rio tonight, and another cold wind is forecast—but I believe God will work in the lives of many as only He can.
Music starts at 6:00pm in the Del Rio High Rams Stadium parking area—pray with us and invite everyone to come! #GodLovesYou #FronteraTour”
