Reverend Franklin Graham paid a moving tribute to the late Charlie Kirk while using his online pulpit to underscore the importance of faith and scripture in the grimmest of times. Kirk was horrifically assassinated while hosting a debate at a Utah college campus. Graham’s post followed President Trump’s initial Truth Social declaration that Kirk did not survive a single gunshot wound to his neck.
“What a tragedy. It has been announced that Charlie Kirk has died after being shot during an event at Utah Valley University today,” Reverend Graham wrote. This young man loved his country and invested his time and energy in trying to make it the best it could be. He stood boldly for conservative values and defended free speech for all of us.”
“Most importantly,” Graham continued, “Charlie loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for his wife Erika, their two young children, and all of their family. It’s in these moments of darkness that we need to stand on the Scripture that Erika shared on social media, ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble’ (Psalm 46:1).”
The post gained huge traction from Graham’s followers, many of whom responded with their own insightful, personal messages reiterating the powerful legacy Kirk leaves behind and the commitment to faith that will move his family and country forward.
“This is spiritual warfare,” one user declared unapologetically. “Charlie Kirk was truly a remarkable warrior for the Lord. His passion for sharing his convictions and speaking truth in love inspired countless young people. He taught us the importance of standing firm against lies and tyranny.
Adding to that statement, the user stated of Kirk’s Christian faith: “Though he is now with the Lord, we can take comfort in knowing that God will raise up another strong voice on earth to continue the fight against evil. His legacy will live on in all those he touched. Just as sure as the enemy is a coward, he thinks he’s won, but God will raise up another warrior and another and another! We are praying for the broken hearts of his loved ones.”
Another user noted that Kirk had accomplished so much at such a young age. Indeed, Kirk began the organization Turning Point USA in his early twenties, becoming a speaker at Republican National conventions when most kids are just graduating college. “What a remarkable human being. Just 31 and known internationally. Not for entertainment or sports but for being a Christian that wasn’t afraid to spread HIS word while guiding so many, particularly young people, towards truth. Lord, watch over his family.”
Yet another comment wrote that “Charlie was fearless. He carried on his work so he could share his Christian beliefs with young adults.I pray that there will be another fearless young Christian man / woman who will carry on Charlie’s message to the young adults.”
One comment quoted from an alleged response from Turning Point itself, noting that “Enough is enough. Charlie Kirk has now become one of the most infamous modern-day martyrs — a man who boldly carried Christian values everywhere he went. His voice stirred hearts, shook the culture, and reminded us that God’s truth cannot be silenced.”
