Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Francis Kennedy, Jr. related a horrific story of anti-Christian policies enacted by the former Biden administration that prevented Christians from accessing government-funded care, focusing in on a particular story of a man being thrown out of a rehabilitation clinic for ‘talking too much’ about God and Jesus.
For context, the specific episode being shared by RFK, Jr. is disheartening though hardly shocking. The Biden administration’s general attitude toward Christianity was both experienced in real-time and since been further exposed by the current Trump administration.
As just a few examples of anti-Christian bias, the four years under Joe Biden saw pro-life worshippers being imprisoned for praying at clinics where abortions were administered, Catholic parents being surveilled by the FBI as possible domestic terrorists, and universities being singled out for adhering to biblical tenets on gender identity. Christians were even denied religious exemptions for Joe Biden’s Covid-19 vaccine mandates, just to name a few.
As it relates to RFK, he has since spoken out multiple times on the story of the man seeking help for his addiction. One of those moments came during a speech at MAHA Action, the political movement he started during his own presidential campaign as a Democrat before dropping out and endorsing then-candidate Donald Trump. His long-time health advocacy then landed him the role at HHS.
Kennedy said during part of his remarks: “During the Biden administration, they stopped funding faith-based healing, and I talked recently to the son of a producer, a very, very famous Hollywood producer. You would all recognize his name. He was in a rehab in California, and he got thrown out of the rehab for talking too much about Jesus. Now, I don’t care what your religion is or who your God is, but you shouldn’t be thrown out of a rehab by talking about God.”

And in another instance, the Trump cabinet member sat down at the annual CPAC summit, well before the MAHA speech, and told the live audience a similar story. “I had a friend who wrote me this week. Who wrote me a friend from California, who wrote me about her son, and she said that he had been thrown out of recovery program in California for talking about God. So this is this has countered everything that we know about recovery. Everything science will tell us about recovery,” he said.
