A moving interview revealed that Phil Robertson, the late star of the beloved “Duck Dynasty” series, had predicted the attempted assassination of President Trump eight years before it happened, and that Robertson, a proud Christian, had personally shared the Gospel message with President Trump.
For context, in an interview on March 31, 2022, on “Relatable” with Allie Beth Stuckey, Phil Robertson shared his experience meeting President Trump and having a lasting impact on him by telling the story of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Robertson, who passed away at 79 on May 25, 2025, predicted that someone would “try to kill” the president years before multiple attempts were made on his life in 2024.
During the interview, Phil said that whenever he met someone, he always wrote the Gospel story on a piece of paper and handed it to them, saying, “When I first met Donald Trump, I did the same thing. I wrote this on a piece of paper and I said, ‘Whatever happens’ – he was running for office at this time – I saw him a couple of times after that, but while he was running for office, I said, ‘Whatever happens, Trump, don’t miss this.'”
Continuing, Robertson explained that he told President Trump, “‘ There’s a cross. Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world.” Robertson then asked the president, “You have sins, don’t you?” and revealed that his response was, “‘A lot of them.'” Robertson replied, “Me too.”
Next, Robertson explained that he told the story of Christ’s burial to President Trump, saying, I said, ‘They put him in a tomb.’ I said, ‘Trump, whatever happens…I said, ‘We’re the same age. We [are the] identical age, and we don’t have that long, we’re in our 70s. I said, ‘Trump, we are going to die and we are going to be six feet under, and so am I. He said, ‘No doubt about it.'”
Moving on to the best part of the story, Robertson recounted how he told the president, “(Jesus) was resurrected from the dead…you can live beyond the grave. It’s the greatest thing that ever happened for the human race. [To] remove all your sins and raise you from the dead.” Robertson added that he told President Trump, “We are all waiting on the return.”
Concluding his story, Roberston explained that he told President Trump, “I’m going to vote for you, but in the meantime, you need to think seriously about that and give your life to Jesus because it’s bigger than the presidency.” Robertson added that he later offered to baptize the president, saying that he told Trump, “‘I’ll come up there and baptize you if you can’t find anybody up there in the White House.”
In another interview on “Relatable” that was released on February 24, 2025, Phil’s son, Jase Robertson, told Allie Beth Stuckey that Phil had also predicted that someone would attempt to take President Trump’s life, saying, “He’s like, ‘Hey, you are not getting any younger… there’s people after you. He was like, ‘Somebody will try to kill you.'” In addition, Jase told Stuckey that when Robertson handed President Trump the paper with the Gospel story on it, he said, “‘You need to move on that. This needs to be the core of everything you do.'”
