South Park Faces Backlash Once Again for Explicit Depiction of Jesus and Mocking of President Trump

The controversial and irreverent cartoon series South Park is facing fire once again, this time for its depiction of a swearing Jesus and ruthless mocking of President Trump, leading the White House to issue a statement condemning the show’s recent season 27 premiere.

For background, on July 23, 2025, South Park premiered its 27th season with an episode titled “Sermon on the Mount,” which focuses on lampooning the Trump Administration and conservative Christianity while also poking fun at the phenomenon of wokeness, with a prominent appearance from Jesus, who acted as a vehicle for the show’s creators to poke fun at President Trump’s recent multimillion-dollar settlement with Paramount.

In the episode, Jesus flies down from the sky and hands out bread to the residents of South Park, telling them to “eat the bread,” and commenting on his presence in the town’s school, saying, “I didn’t want to come back and be in the school, but I had to because it was part of a lawsuit and the agreement with Paramount.”

Moreover, Jesus asked the townsfolk, “You saw what happened to CBS? Yeah, well, guess who owns CBS? Paramount! Do you really wanna end up like [Stephen] Colbert? You guys gotta stop being stupid.” In response, a lawyer in the show agrees to promote President Trump at all costs. The episode went on to depict an AI-generated version of President Trump stripping naked, backed by a voiceover poking fun at the controversial “He Gets Us” ad campaign.

In response to the controversial episode, White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers told Variety, “The Left’s hypocrisy truly has no end; for years they have come after ‘South Park’ for what they labeled as ‘offense’ content, but suddenly they are praising the show.”

Continuing, Rogers ripped into South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, saying, “Just like the creators of ‘South Park,’ the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows.”

In addition, Rogers’ statement went on to describe South Park as irrelevant: “This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention,” Rogers said, adding, “President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country’s history — and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump’s hot streak.”

Predictably, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone responded to the backlash from the White House sarcastically, telling the audience at the San Diego ComicCon, “We’re terribly sorry.”
