A resurfaced “classic” tweet went viral again for putting atheism’s supposed non-religiosity on full display, highlighting the fact that making emphatically declarative statements for their worldview requires more faith than what doubting Christians are allowed to make.
Atheism rejects the existence of a divine being, though without definitive proof of such a claim. They mock Christians for believing in a higher power and cite this faith as nothing more than being told what to believe. But at the same time, for someone to so convincingly reject a Creator, reject a Savior, and even reject the historical and logical basis of Christian theology, they are doing what they accuse Christians of and then some.
Making this point succinctly, the X account Against Atheism posited on March 27th that “[i]t takes more faith to be an Atheist than a Christian” before posting a screen shot of a famous Lee Strobel post. Strobel is a famous converted Christian who once espoused atheism and since his conversion has written and spoken frequently about the case for the Christian God.
His viral post reads, again pointing out the abundance of faith required of atheists, who again claim to reject faith outright, wrote: “To continue in atheism, I’d need to believe nothing produces everything, non-life produces life, randomness produces fine-tuning, chaos produces information, unconsciousness produces consciousness, and non-reason produces reason. I just didn’t have that much faith.”

The reposting garnered as many supporters as it did coping trolls. “Undoubtedly,” one user commented. Atheism is a complete absurdity but yet some people find it to be more rational than a rational Creator bringing the universe and everything in it into existence. Either God is or He isn’t and some people would rather take the non-rational view.”
Another astutely pointed out that for whatever its claims, the worldview of atheists, materialists, secularlists, or however else they describe themselves, relies just as much on a religious foundation as the Christians whom they mock for it. “Scientism/secular humanism is a complete religion, with its very own liturgical elements, “priesthood,” and sacred texts – the delusion on this fact is so subtle that most of society disregards it,” the commenter said.
And, of course, the meltdowns under the post were epic, as these sheltered souls couldn’t dare struggle honestly with the disconnect between what they think they know and feel versus how it actually plays out. “Takes a zero Faith to be an atheist. Because none of those things that you mentioned have anything to do with atheism and we do not need to give account for them. I don’t believe it was a God that did that until you can show that it was a God that did that,” one user said while completely ignoring the point of the post.
“Umm…atheism is the lack of faith,” another said, once more demonstrating these people don’t understand what they believe. “So, it not only takes zero faith to be an atheist, but it actually REQUIRES zero faith to be an atheist. Good try though. Better luck next time…”
“I would need a lot of faith to believe that a man was made from dust, a woman from a rib, that snakes can talk, that they’re somehow our ancestors while having no daughters and that the moon ‘rules the night,” added a third. Apparently, just rejecting Christianity makes them smarter, though they offer nothing in return.
