University of Texas A&M Corpus Christi students recently participated in a massive revival that drew nearly 1,500 attendees and 62 baptisms. The event was organized by New Life Young Adults, a ministry associated with New Life Church.
Pastors Michael and Bonne Fehlauer took to social media, celebrating the event’s success, writing, “Nearly 1500 students last night [at] Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. 62 water baptisms. Powerful testimonies. Many physically healed and delivered! Jesus is Lord….. and He is coming back.”
Users on social media also celebrated the major evangelical event, where one person said, “Thank you, Jesus,” while another claimed, “Sitting here in tears looking at these pics! Oh Father move on this campus! Thank you NewLife for loving and serving! What a beautiful sight!”
New Life Young Adults Pastor Tarik Whitmore spoke about the revival, noting that after reading from the Bible, “This was followed by testimonies from students and former students — sharing how God saved them, set them free, healed them physically, and is now using them to change the lives of others.”
“As the altar was opened, there was an invitation given to profess faith in Jesus through water baptism, receive prayer for healing and receive prayer for the baptism of the Holy Spirit,” the pastor added, highlighting the process for students who sought to profess their faith in Jesus Christ.
“The night continued with students and young adults sharing testimonies in real-time of salvation, healing, deliverance, and being filled with the Spirit,” Whitmore continued. “The night concluded with a commissioning of those who wanted God to use them on their college campus — All declaring, ‘Here I am. Send me!’”
New Life Young Adults hosted a similar event last year, that drew roughly 1,000 students and over 100 baptisms. Whitmore pointed out the difference this year, stating, “We saw an increase in physical healings, deliverance, and people receiving a baptism of the Holy Spirit,” he said. “We had many who were baptized last year in attendance. And many who attended last year were leading and serving at this year.”
According to recent reports, similar evangelical events have been happening all across the country as there is a clear hunger for the Gospel. A recent event hosted in Jacksonville, Florida, saw 1,000 people give their lives to Christ and get baptized.
Church of Eleven22 pastor Joby Martin said. God saved a lot of people, and those people were obedient to take the next step — to go public with their faith and declare Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. And just as amazing as the 1,614 people that got baptized are the … maybe 10,000 people from our church [who] showed up to celebrate it on the beach.”
The Christian Tribune reported on another high-profile Christian event that recently took place at Ohio State University, where members of the football team organized an event to worship God, pass out Bibles, and baptize students in the name of Jesus Christ. The event received so much attention in the press that Reverend Franklin Graham applauded the evangelical event.
Graham wrote, “Wow! This is the kind of news we need a lot more of! Ohio State Football players led an ‘Invitation to Jesus’ event on campus and shared the life-changing truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Nearly 2,000 people attended Sunday evening and dozens were baptized. Praise God for each heart that was transformed!”
