The First Family of Donald and Melania Trump both spoke at a White House event promoting an on-going mission focused especially on by the First Lady. Throughout her time in Washington, D.C., Melania has curated many projects meant to provide for the wellbeing and safety of youth in America and around the world.

Recently, Melania Trump wrote an impassioned plea to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin to end the conflict in Eastern Europe, if for no other reason than to stop the separation of families and violence inflicted on young people on both sides of the years-long war. Melania’s emotional tug at a common sense of humanity remains unfulfilled in that part of the world, but her mission continues to protect children whenever possible.

Fast forward to November 13th, and Melania once again found herself at a podium reading powerful words directed at providing resources and support for the growing foster child population in the United States, a demographic that struggles while in the system but struggles exponentially once it ages out. It was this latter issue that President Trump and his wife Melania aimed to tackle.

“A special thank you to my husband for his enduring commitment to fostering the future,” she began as she outlined a new executive order from the Oval Office. “The President has prioritized America’s foster care children, and shortly he will sign our Fostering The Future executive order. Too many people from foster care community end up homeless, in danger on America’s streets.”

Melania then discussed how the E.O. would work. “Fostering The Future a be best initiative provides individuals from the foster care community with technology based scholarships to attend colleges and universities throughout America, fostering the future sets these individuals on their career paths, but more significantly, it equips each scholarship recipient with the fundamental foundation of knowledge that will endure throughout their lifetimes.”

“Permanency for those who embody the fleeting,” she continued, “this executive order, fostering the future for American children And families, gives me tremendous pride. It is both empathetic and strategic. It will certainly be impactful. It aims to establish a comprehensive network connecting federal departments and agencies, pride of private sectors, businesses, higher higher learning institutions.” Watch her speak on the issue here:

And President Trump also shared a moment addressing the issue of protecting America’s youth in the foster care system. Citing biblical commandments, he promised that his administration would never forget them and that they would be offered support like never before seen so that they too could have a chance to grow up to be ‘strong, productive’ citizens.

“The Bible tells us that one of the measures of any society is how it cares for vulnerable children and orphans is so important, and it’s so big in the Bible,” President Trump said during his remarks. “So as we make America great again, we are going to protect American children in foster care, and we’re going to ensure that they will never, ever be forgotten. These children will never be forgotten, and they’re going to grow up to be unbelievable, strong, smart, wealthy, productive citizens.”
