Actress Gina Carano, who made headlines after she was fired from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian for criticizing the COVID-19 lockdowns, has officially reached a settlement with The Walt Disney Co. following a grueling legal battle. She responded to the victory by thanking God and calling Elon Musk, who funded her lawsuit, a “Good Samaritan” in a post on social media.
For background, Carano, a 41-year-old actress who previously played the character Cara Dune in The Mandalorian, was fired from the show in February 2021 based on her outspoken conservative views, particularly her criticism of the United States’ handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. On August 7, 2025, Carano announced that after suing The Walt Disney Co. over her firing, she had reached a settlement, going on to receive a wave of support from fans in response to the news.
Writing on X on August 7, 2025, Carano told her fans, “I have come to an agreement with Disney/Lucasfilm
@disney @Lucasfilm which I believe is the best outcome for all parties involved.” She added, “I hope this brings some healing to the force.” Moreover, Carano emphatically thanked Elon Musk, clarifying that Musk is “a man I’ve never met, who did this Good Samaritan deed for me in funding my lawsuit.”
Continuing, Carano said she was “humbled and grateful to God for His love and grace in this outcome,” going on to add, “I’d like to thank you all for your unrelenting support throughout my life and career, you’ve been the heartbeat that has kept my story alive. I hope to make you proud.” She concluded, “I am excited to flip the page and move onto the next chapter. My desires remain in the arts, which is where I hope you will join me. ♥️”
In response to Carano’s initial post, a host of prominent figures in the conservative media sphere expressed their support, along with countless fans. Elon Musk commented, “❤️,” and Brett Cooper chimed in, saying, “So excited for you ❤️❤️.” Attorney Gene Schaerr wrote, “Honored that my colleagues and I were able to assist Gina and Disney in resolving their differences. May the force be with both of them!”
Furthermore, in a subsequent post, Carano expressed her gratitude for the encouraging response from her fans, writing, “The support I’ve recieved is mind blowing and has been for years, it fills my heart with such warmth.” She continued, “My loved ones phones have been blowing up with such positivity which means the world to me. 🥹”
Moreover, Carano explained that after she was fired, her friends and family members had gone to great lengths to express their disdain for Disney. She wrote, “The Baby Grogu’s all my families kids got Christmas’s ago silently put away, along with Star Wars shirts and toys, broke my heart to watch. Everyone apologizing to me for going to Disneyland, or refusing to go, I didn’t ask or want that for anyone, but people were properly upset, it has been so sad.”
Concluding, Carano told her fans, “Healing is definitely happening now.” She emphatically added, “No need to apologize to me for having Disney+ anymore 😂 PLEASE. I need to move on. Bring the Grogu’s out, I’m ok! I do believe positive change is happening. We will see.”
