Famous actor Tim Allen recently took to social media to detail his experience genuinely reading scripture for the first time in his life. Allen explained that he had almost finished the Old Testament and was surprised by what he had read so far. The “Toy Story” actor maintained that he is excited to continue journeying through the New Testament.
“Never took the time in all my years to ever read and really read the Bible. Currently almost through the Jerusalem Bible Old Testament and almost done with the Prophets. Next up to New Testament. So far amazing and not at all what I was expecting,” he shared on X.
Allen received an outpouring of support from Christians in the comments section. “You’re reading a book that changed the history of all mankind and will change your life in big, small, and unexpected ways. If you’re ‘still that wisecracking kid from the Midwest, looking for answers to life’s big questions,’ you’re about to find them. So excited for you!” one person wrote.
“The Bible is God’s LIVING Word and each time you read it with an open heart seeking His Truth Tim, the Holy Spirit will lead and guide you into ALL Truth. God bless you,” another person joyfully added, encouraging Allen to pursue the Holy Spirit.
“Tim, That’s awesome! Keep at it. I’ve been reading the Bible every day for years and have read through it several times. We’re all criminals in God’s eyes. None of us are righteous. But while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us! If we confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts that he did this for us and to pay our sin debt, we will be saved! It sounds too good to be true, but that’s why it’s called the good news!” another said, describing the truth of the Gospel.

I pray continued clarity and discernment on your journey, God bless you and your family. – Welcome aboard,” one person commented. “That’s wonderful to hear. The Bible changed my life 20 years ago when I found evidence for Jesus while I was still a skeptic. It was the best discovery and changed my life forever,” another added.
Another follower Christ said, “Wonderful! Would love for you to post more as you move along. I’ve read it through twice. After my second read, I went to the Holy land for a few weeks. Makes everything you read come alive. Was baptized in the river Jordan. Took a wooden boat out on the Sea of Galilea. Walked through the Valley of Elah. Prayed at the rock in the Garden of Gethsemane. Took steps that we know Jesus walked. Powerful and unforgettable!!”
Allen made headlines over the last couple of years when it was revealed that he stood up to Disney to keep a Christmas-themed show centered on Christ. “It originally had a lot of otherworldly characters, and ghosts, and goblins. I said no, this is Christ-mas. It’s Christ-mas. It literally is a religious holiday,” Allen previously said. “We don’t have to blow trumpets, but I do want you to acknowledge it. That’s what this is about. If you want to get into Santa Claus, you’re gonna have to go back to history, and it’s all about religion.”
