Former NFL quarterback and outspoken Christian Tim Tebow recently explained how true freedom stems from Jesus Christ dying on the cross to atone for humanity’s sins. Explaining the core message of the Gospel, Tebow took to social media to speak about how Christ died for all to be saved.
Beginning his message, Tebow read from Romans 8:1 — “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
“Guys, in Christ Jesus, we have been set free, so that now there is no condemnation,” Tebow continued. “The Creator of this universe, our Heavenly Father, is a just judge, but He’s also a loving father that knew that sin had to be paid for. My sin had to be paid for. And so He sent His son Jesus down to this earth to live a life that I couldn’t live, and He chose to die a death that I deserve to die.”
The former professional athlete further explained that the battle has already been one by the work of Christ, and His followers no longer have to live in condemnation. “That punishment was placed on Jesus, that condemnation was placed on Him, the guilty verdict was placed on Him so that when we believe in Him, we would be set free. Because His scars set me free. That punishment is now why we don’t have to sit in condemnation because it was placed on Jesus, our King, our Savior, our ransom. So we don’t have to live in condemnation. We get to live set free because of what Jesus has done for us,” he said.

The Christian Tribune previously reported on other comments from Tim Tebow, who shared how he turns to God during times of hardship. “One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever gotten, and it was from my mom…” Tebow said.“I’m young, playing sports and I’m very emotional…I would want to get interviewed. I would want to say thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, right? And she’d say, ‘Why don’t you say it when you lose, you know?’”
“Just say it in your head,” he added. “Say it in your disappointment after you have a bad play. Give it to the Lord. Like literally in that moment. He can handle it, you can’t. Give it to him.” Addressing challenging circumstances, Tebow said, “But you have to ask: what’s the lesson I’m supposed to learn from this? What does God want me to do from here? That’s how you keep from getting bitter.”
He added, “You’ll never silence the critics. There will always be people in your life who will underestimate your potential, say that you’ll never reach your dream or make that goal, or try to hold you back in some way. What God knows about us is more important than what others think.”
