Terry Bollea, better known as the world-famous professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, has sadly passed away at the age of 71, reportedly due to cardiac arrest. Several years before his passing, Hogan announced that he had been baptized alongside his wife, calling his baptism “the greatest day” of his life.

For background, on July 24, 2025, TMZ Sports confirmed that Hulk Hogan died in Clearwater, Florida, at 71 after suffering a cardiac arrest. Following his death, Clearwater Police Maj. Nate Burnside confirmed that Hulk died at 11:17 AM, clarifying that there were “no signs of foul play or suspicious activity.”

For years, Hogan had been open about his religious beliefs, telling Oprah Winfrey in a 2013 interview that while he had undergone personal hardships, he “realized all that stuff — the peace, love, the joy, that still, small voice, the energy, that God presence — is part of who I’m meant to be.”

However, Hogan spoke more explicitly about his faith in Jesus in a tweet shared on Easter Sunday, 2023, saying, “I accepted Christ as my savior at 14yrs old, and the training, prayers and vitamins kept me in the game but now that I am one with God.”

Continuing to write in his signature style, Hulk added, “The main event theme of surrender, service and love makes me the Real Main Event that can slam any giant of any size through the power of my Lord and Savior and so it is,even now brother, AMEN!” Conservative filmmaker Edward Szall replied to Hulk’s post by saying of Easter, “This weekend brings out the demons, but it also brings out the saints.” Szall then called Hogan his “Brottthhhhaaa-in-Christ.”

On the other hand, in 2015, Hogan became the subject of a media firestorm when an explicit tape was released by the National Enquirer that featured him with the wife of another man using the N-word. However, in response, after his contract was terminated by the WWE over the scandal, Hogan wrote, “In the storm I release control, God and his Universe will sail me where he wants me to be.”

Importantly, on December 20, 2023, Hulk shared a video of himself and his wife being baptized during a ceremony at Indian Rocks Baptist Church in Florida. Writing about his baptism online, Hogan said, “Total surrender and dedication to Jesus is the greatest day of my life.” He added, “No worries, no hate, no judgment… only love!”

In response to his baptism announcement, commenters celebrated and welcomed Hogan and his wife into the fold. Fr. Calvin Robinson wrote, “Welcome to the Church of Christ, brother. May God bless you.” Joel Berry of the satirical Christian news site The Babylon Bee celebrated as well, simply writing, “BROTHER.”
