Former President Donald Trump recently stated that his campaign embraces Christians after a controversial incident at a Kamala Harris rally in which the vice president appeared to mock two protestors after they proclaimed their faith. Trump maintained that he will always “embrace followers of Jesus.”
The official Donald Trump Instagram account wrote, “While Kamala said that people who believe in Jesus don’t belong to her rallies, in our Movement — We love Christians, we welcome believers, and we embrace followers of Jesus.”
The post shared a clip of the incident which occurred at Harris’ Wisconsin rally where a protestor had shouted “Christ is King!” After he said that, Harris responded by saying, “Oh you guys are at the wrong rally.” The vice president’s remark has subsequently sparked uproar in the Christian community.
The Christian Tribune reported on comments from Republican Vice Presidential Candidate JD Vance who affirmed that “Jesus is king,” during a campaign event after the Harris rally incident. “I want to talk particularly to people faith, because I know we got a lot of Catholics here, and, you know, I don’t talk a whole lot about my faith, because, you know, sometimes you just talk about other things. You talk about public policy. But I’m certainly a very devout Christian, and I was actually baptized for the first time in 2019 I returned to my faith as a as a young man, got baptized,” Vance said
“And I say this as as a as a Christian, as a person who was baptized for the first time just a few years ago. There is something really bizarre with Kamala Harris’s anti Christian rhetoric and anti Christian approach to public policy,” Vance continued, before someone in the crowd then shouted, “Jesus is King,” presumably referencing the Kamala Harris rally incident. Vance replied, “That’s right, Jesus is King.”
Calling Harris’ agenda that is incongruent with Christian values, the Ohio senator continued, “Remember, Kamala Harris has supported suing Catholic nuns to force them to force them to perform procedures that violate their conscience.” However, he maintained that he and former president Trump would protect the interests of Christians. “I think that’s ridiculous. I think we’re a big enough country where we can actually respect the right of people of faith to live according to their conscience and not try to force Kamala Harris’ progressive values down their throat,” he told the crowd.
Furthermore, prominent pastor John MacArthur has also called out Vice President Harris after the controversial statement toward the Christian protestors. “Somebody said ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and she immediately said you’re in the wrong place. What else do you need to know?” he said.
“You take the best of maybe not the best choices,” he said. “Who would do the most damage to the family? Who would do the most damage to children? Who would do the most damage to the culture? Who would do the most damage to morality? Who would put us in a most insecure and unsafe position when [the] government is designed to protect law-abiding people and punish evildoers?”
