Famous actress and outspoken Christian Candace Cameron Bure recently spoke about President-elect Donald Trump’s landslide victory in the presidential election, claiming it is a powerful sign of a resurgence of faith in the United States.
When Fox News asked if Trump’s decisive victory was “proof that faith is making a comeback in America,” she answered, “Yes, I mean, listen, I think everyone was blown away by this election. It was just a red sweep. And more shocking than a lot of people realize, and, you know, had a hard time in the last four years trying to buy groceries, you know. So there’s a lot, a lot of things. I mean, I could go off on it.”
While Bure maintained that she is passionate about politics, she noted that her time as a co-host of “The View” changed her perspective on outwardly expressing her values. “I kind of put my political opinions aside in a more gentle way since co-hosting “The View,” she said. “But you know, when I’m with my friends and family, I’ll tell you, we, we go at it like in the best of ways. We have, like, great conversation. So I do really enjoy talking about political issues.”
Furthermore, Bure emphasized that there is work to be done in the aftermath of the election. But anyway, it’s, it’s all done like it’s done and finished with. And of course, there’s a lot of work to be done. I mean, everyone’s going to vote. You have two candidates that are really viable options.”
She continued, noting that, as the Bible teaches, government will inevitably be flawed and imperfect, so we shouldn’t have unrealistic standards for our candidate of choice. “You can write in, of course, but God’s not going to be surprised either way, no matter who wins. So let God’s will be done. That’s what I mean by it, but it’s our duty as as Americans to go out and vote. And you know, I there’s never going to be two perfect candidates, and everyone is flawed, not just our presidential candidates, but every single one of us,” she said.
In light of this, Bure urged people to take a realistic look at the issues and then evaluate which candidate could best mitigate them. “So what I was encouraging people to do was look at the policies and look at the issues. Because if we’re only looking at the people that we have to choose from, we can pick apart both of them when it comes to character. So let’s see what the policy is for the long term, for the next four years, or for the next several, several years, like many years to come.”
Most importantly, Bure explained how she assessed the political options from a biblical perspective. “And, you know, I look at the issues from the biblical perspective so that’s when I said but like Jesus. Let me break you down for you and show you how, what the Bible says about specific issues,” she said.
