“Trump Won We Don’t Have To Do This Anymore”: Vice President Vance Savages Woke MLB After Christian Players Write Over Pride Night Hats

Vice President JD Vance took to social media to skewer the front office of Major League Baseball after the sports league threatened consequences for three San Francisco Giants players who wrote a Bible Verse next to the rainbow-themed logo on their hats. The hats were a forced uniform modification for the now-annual ‘Pride Night’ many teams celebrate.

For context, Landen Roupp, JT Brubaker, and Ryan Walker each wrote ‘Genesis 9:12-16’ on their ball caps, which had modified the traditionally orange SF for a rainbowed-out SF. The coerced celebration of Pride month, already a sin for many Christians as pride itself is one of the seven deadly sins, goes further as it puts front and center the sexual orientation and activities of those in that community.

“Three Giants pitchers wore Bible verses on their Pride Night caps during Friday’s game,” Sports Illustrated’s X account wrote on the Elon Musk-owned social media behemoth. “MLB has since issued a warning to them.” In response, Vice President JD Vance nuked the entire concept of pandering to the woke mob. “Trump won we don’t have to do this anymore,” he pithily quote-tweeted.

The inscription on the three ballplayers hats was a reference to the post-flood promise God made to mankind, vowing never to destroy humanity again after having to wash away the sins of the world. The rainbow’s origins are therefore a sacred covenant between the Almighty creator and His creation.

It reads in full: “And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

Vance was far from the only Republican politician to weigh in on the controversy. Texas Representative Wesley Hunt opined on social media as well. “Yesterday, MLB Players faced backlash from the league for expressing their Christian beliefs,” he wrote. “Today, America is demanding answers for this selective ‘inclusion’. While they bent over backwards for BLM messaging in 2020, they’re cracking down on religious freedom in 2026. This isn’t neutrality, it’s political discrimination against faith. Americans see the double standard.”

For their part, the San Francisco Giants addressed the controversy with the exact type of meaningless pablum one would expect, saying, “The San Francisco Giants are proud to support Pride Night and the LGBTQ+ community. Baseball should be a place where everyone feels welcome, respected, and valued. We also respect that individuals may make personal choices about participating in team activations.”

“We understand that the choices by individual players have caused pain and anger to many in the LGBTQ+ community and we are sorry for that. Those choices do not change our organization’s commitment to inclusion, belonging, and creating a welcoming environment for all. We remain grateful to our fans, partners, employees, players, and coaches who help make Pride Night a meaningful celebration,” it added.
