Appearing on the Babylon Bee Podcast, former Disney actress Gina Carano explained how significant adversity in her career and life has impacted her, particularly in her Christian faith. According to Carano, the life adversity and struggles did not diminish her faith in the Lord above, but rather helped her develop her faith in God and grow spiritually.
As background, Carano, who now appears in conservative-leaning films for The Daily Wire’s movie branch, was canceled by Disney over a misinterpreted post about political enmity. Carano was attempting to point out how demonization can lead to horrible things, such as the Holocaust, but critics used the post to lambast her, and Disney responded by firing her from “The Mandalorian.”
Carano managed to recover, however, and now is better known and more popular than ever. She also is a faithful Christian who is using her large platform and following to spread the good word, as she recently did during an appearance on The Babylon Bee Podcast. During it she discussed her Christian faith and how adversity strengthened rather than weakened it.
Speaking on the matter, Carano first noted that her faith and spirituality have grown in recent years, the years in which she has dealt with cancellation and rebounded from it. She said, “My spirituality has grown in the last couple of years in ways that just has been the biggest blessing, and in my mind is kind of like because I think my spirituality has grown my mind has become better.”
Continuing, she explained that she grew up as a Christian but wasn’t particularly committed to the faith, but now is much more deeply committed to it. In fact, she said she reads every day to build her faith and remain on the right path. She said, making that point, “I grew up a Christian I guess like I just kind of like didn’t…in the last three years, that’s just grown in a way that you know, I don’t know what kind of Christian I was before, but [now] I really feel that every single day like if I don’t read something in the morning to set me off on the right path then I feel like I just get bumps and bruises all day long and I’m like off I feel almost like new to it all.”
Then, Carano expressed her thankfulness for God and how he has worked through her, saying, “I am really grateful I feel like you know God’s really kind of like use my life to possibly take the sting off of some a very painful time that we’ve all been through in the last four years.” She added that God helped people find strength through her story, saying, “people out there, through my life, you know, didn’t feel so alone in what they were going through when it comes down to that.”
She then noted that she knows she is flawed but is trying to get better and improve in life and faith, saying, “And it’s been all worth it, but I’m by no means like this, like perfect, you know. I’m such a flawed like ridiculous human. I am constantly like, making mistakes making the same mistakes, and but I’m, I’m like a Christian. So I am trying to take more notice of it. And I never tried before. I always thought you know, I’m just living. And now I’m like, Okay, I’m thinking about things deeper than I ever did.”
