In a touching scene from a White House press conference, Patty Morin, the mother of Rachel Morin, who was brutally slain and assaulted by an illegal immigrant, offered a prayer on behalf of her daughter. Patty asked that God “would push back the enemy, and cause confusion in their camp,” while speaking about the immigrants who slew her daughter.
For context, Rachel Morin, a 37-year-old mother, was killed by Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez in a horrific act of violence. The illegal immigrant dragged his victim 150 feet into the tunnel, leaving a trail of blood, which alerted authorities to the scene of the crime. When he was brought to justice, the jury deliberated for less than an hour before announcing his guilt.
In any case, Patty Morin began her April 16, 2025, prayer by expressing her gratitude to God despite the horrible circumstances of her daughter’s death. She said, “Things. I have to say that this is probably going to be one of the highlights of my life, being able to be a part of the prayer meeting of my life, because there’s no greater God, because there’s no greater God.”
Continuing her prayer, she expressed hope that Rachel’s death could serve a higher purpose. She declared, “he has a purposeful thing to always be here this moment in time. Time, and even death, happened to Rachel as part of his purpose. And so I just want to pray that God would take and he would speak to the hearts of every man, woman, and child that hears [this] and that the truth would ring true in their hearts.”
Pivoting to her daughter’s killer, she said “[We asked] God, that you would take and you would push back the enemy cause confusion in their camp, God, and that you would raise your standard, and that You would be exalted and magnified and glorified.”
Concluding her remarks, Patty Morin asked God to make a lasting change in the hearts of the attendees. She stated, “Fill us with your Holy Spirit, God, so that the words that we speak come from you and flow out of us, through us to the people, and that the words that we say are the words that you want to speak to them, Just anoint us, give us the function. And thank you, God, for his opportunity. Thank you, God, for these people who are so devoted to you and to truth. We ask this.”
When a clip of her heartfelt prayer was posted to X, users responded with an outpouring of support. One comment said, “I feel so sad for this mother!! It has to be unimaginable to lose a child so horrendously. I pray that God gives her strength and endurance to get through this journey 🙏🏻”

Responding to the grieving mother, commentators promised to include the Morin family in their prayers. One reply vowed, “I will pray for Patty Morrin and her family. I pray that God will continue giving her the strength to carry on and to be a strong grandmother for those beautiful babies. My heart continues to break for the Morrin the family.
