As spring approaches, so too do the annual Christian revivals that have been sweeping the nation the past few years. Younger Americans part of so-called Gen Z are hungering for something more than their leftist-dominated institutions and culture have offered them. This past week, over 4,500 students participated in an event hosted by a group called Unite US, which for the past few years has helped organized some of the biggest revivals on college campuses, at Purdue University. By the end of the night, over half of those students accepted Jesus Christ as their savior.
“From the moment we stepped on campus we knew God was going to move in a special way tonight. 4,500 students gathered in Elliott Hall of Music and we were blown away seeing how the students leaned in during worship. We still can’t get over seeing nearly half the students in attendance flood the altar to give Jesus their ‘yes’. Thank you, Jesus, for how you’re moving in this generation,” a post from UniteUS stated on Instagram, celebrating the incredible success of both their group and the young people who dedicated their lives to Christ.
A similar post appeared on X, where Pastor Travis Johnson wrote that “GOD MOVING REVIVAL AT PURDUE UNIVERSITY!” He continued: “4,500 students gathered LAST NIGHT on the campus of Purdue to worship & pray. By the end of the night, nearly half of those who attended confessed Jesus as the Savior & several took part in water baptisms afterward. Pray for GenZ.”
Incredibly, the gathering that took place in early March on Purdue was the end result of an initial five – five! – students praying on their campus. That number eventually grew to several hundred before UniteUS contributed to making the event what it truly was. Watch some powerful footage captured by Johnson below:
The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) describes UniteUS as an entity that was “birthed out of a desire to ‘lift the name of Jesus,’ and [that] it gained rapid momentum after its initial outreach at Auburn University’s Neville Arena in September 2023 where 5,000 students showed up to worship Jesus and 200 were spontaneously baptized in a nearby lake…The evangelistic college campus movement is marked by salvations, water baptisms, and worship, and it’s beginning to garner national attention, but [one participating pastor] says it is all about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
It added: “UniteUS is a ministry that’s been making waves on college campuses across the country for several years now. At the start of the year, 8,000 students gathered at the University of Kentucky’s Rupp Arena to worship Jesus and hear a powerful message on the Gospel. Then, an Ohio State revival event saw 6,500 students gather in The Schott where almost 2,000 attendees responded to the altar call.”
CBN added that since the group’s inception in fall of 2023, it has already reached more than 100,000 college students. It’s next planned event is scheduled to take place this upcoming March 11th at West Virginia University. One thing is for certain, and that’s that young people who have been raised inside a culture that worships either the state or the self is not leading to purpose, meaning, or personal fulfillment.
