The finale to Season 22 of American Idol, the hit singing competition show, included a powerful rendition of the song “Goodness to God,” with millions tuning into the show in which gospel singing legend CeCe Winans and alongside former American Idol contestant Roman Collins sang that song as a duet.
Winans, as background, is one of the most renowned gospel singers, being one of the best-selling and most-awarded female gospel artists ever. In fact, Winans has sold over 17 million records, making her an incredibly popular gospel singer. Roman Collins, alongside whom she sang “Goodness to God,” was on American Idol this season and was eliminated just before the Top 10 round.
Commenters on the clip of the duet that was posted to Instagram praised it and the Lord while writing about faith. One commenter, for example, wrote, “I love that American Idol embraced Roman’s faith and let him roll with it. So many shy. Away and this was refreshing to see.” Another added, “I pray that Katy Perry was truly moved and that she returns to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
Another commenter wrote, “There’s a reason this connects with us more deeply. It’s because we were made for this.” Another said, “Fav moment of American Idol of ALL TIME.” Still another said, “There’s nothing anyone can tell me, JESUS sat in that room and took over! Phew! Goosebumps! Jesus over everything 🙌” Yet another added, “They say the devil is in the details but NO, GOD was in every note and word. So beautifully done! God is calling her back. i’ve seen so many auditions where christian’s come to american idol and she’s the judge. no coincidence there !!”

God is so amazing he continues to blow my mind. I pray you all were blessed by this just as much as I was.” That came in response to Winans writing, “It was an honor to sing #GoodnessofGod with you @romancollinsofficial!”
