Minnesota’s largest city by population, the far-left enclave of Minneapolis, became the latest high-profile city to be recorded broadcasting Islam’s notorious call to prayer. The loud blaring horn, which signals practicing Muslims to pray toward Mecca en masse, has seen the greatest influx of Somalis throughout the entire nation.
For context, and while figures are not current, the state of Minnesota reported almost 60,000 Somalis living in both its urban and rural cities in 2018. Given the almost unlimited immigration allowed over the tenure of the Biden administration, that figure could easily be seen exceeding 100,000 in the seven years that have followed. Minnesota is home to the only Somali Representative in Congress, Ilhan Omar, and the city of Minneapolis nearly elected Somali candidate Omar Fateh to be its next mayor in November of 2025,
Muslim calls to prayer being broadcast in public in U.S. cities is hitting a fever pitch as heritage Americans are witnessing their hometowns and communities change drastically compared to even just a decade ago. The Christian Tribune previously reported on the situation in Dearborn, Michigan, where the country’s first majority-Muslim city has radically altered the landscape and now blasts the cacophonous sound five times a day.
“The Detroit suburb is the first city in America to have a majority-Muslim population and has several Muslims on its city council and has a Muslim mayor,” the Christian Tribune wrote, describing both the growing cultural and political influence. The mayor in particular has been caught on video deriding Americans for their protest of changes; in one case, a street was renamed to honor an individual connected to Beirut’s horrific 1983 embassy bombing. Residents pushing back were told to simply leave if they didn’t like what was happening.
As it relates to Minneapolis, one account on the social media account X recorded a call to prayer. “Do you hear that?” he asks in the short video. “And we are not in the Middle East. We’re in the US. It’s Minnesota, Minneapolis.” The rest of the video shows images of various newcomers in the city and the subsequent changes being forced on the city. Watch that video below:
The situation in Minneapolis has not been nearly as publicized as the one in Dearborn, where fed-up citizen residents have post videos of their complaints alongside having to pause in order to be able to speak before and after the loud blares. The Christian Tribune likewise reported on several viral videos from late October, sharing both the videos and commentary attached to them from social media.
One post to X shared a video of a woman recording a call to prayer during the daytime. “Woman records the Muslim call to prayer being broadcast over loudspeakers in Dearborn, Michigan,” the post stated. “Every resident is subjected to hearing it five times a day, from sunrise to sunset. How is this even allowed in America?”
Another post shared a different video of the same daily occurrence, this time in the evening. The same blaring sound spreads throughout the entire city. “In Dearborn, Michigan, residents are subjected to the Muslim call to prayer blasted across the city 5 times a day. This doesn’t feel like the America I once knew,” the post said.
