In a highly controversial lecture, Kody Storms, a former “drag king,” hectored churchgoers to use woke neo-pronouns like “Xe” or “Fem.” When a clip of this segment was posted to X, conservatives were incensed by the condescending tone of the speech and condemned the progressive activist in the comments section.
For context, this post highlights a deep theological divide within Christianity over pronouns, which has raged hotly for decades. While conservative Christians adhere to a traditional view of gender and believe that using new pronouns would violate their values, liberals seek to bring woke politics into the church. Storms’ remarks are typical of progressive activists who seek to inject politics into churches.
Such was shown during Storms’ bizarre woke rant. The activist said, “My name is Kody Storms, and I use they and he pronouns. That means that I am not entirely a man, and I am definitely not a woman. I’m very proud that being a drag king for two years in California helped me feel more sure of my gender identity, but because of my voice and my facial hair and the way I present myself now on testosterone, I often hear people referring to me as he/him only.”
Building on that point, Storms complained more about gender identity. The non-binary progressive said, “It’s a very weird problem to have. I’m glad I’m not seen as a woman, but hearing myself referred to only as a non-binary man does not feel right either when my gender is more queer than that, the pronoun Z or Zen, spelled Z-E or X-E, depending on personal preference, is supposed to be a way to ease the struggle of a non-binary person.”
Continuing the unusual rant, Storms said, “A binary pronoun, like he or she, but it’s also a singular pronoun for one individual, compared to the pronoun they/that confuses people for being plural. These are called neopronouns, and there’s others too, like Z, spelled Z-E, some people want to be referred to as It/Its.”
Still not done, the LGBTQ+ activist continued the rant, saying, “Some people like V or Ver, Fay or FEM, Me or Nim. And if it sounds endless and dry, that’s kind of because of the hiss. They’re all the same thing. They’re just words replacing having to say somebody’s name over and over again. Pronouns are just a way to simplify the human language, but if my pronouns make referring to me too complicated, then you could just say my name.”
Concluding the bizarre screed, Storms said that objecting to these pronouns are infact more rediculous than using thin. The activist said, “You’re acknowledging me either way, which is good enough to start with, but eventually people will notice when you refer to someone only by name over and over, and you’ll sound more ridiculous than if you just learned it the right way the first time.”

In the comments under the post, conservatives flocked to express their disgust. One of the comments read, “Forcing someone to use pronouns to assuage your sensitivities is tyrannical. Control of speech is the essence of freedom, and trying to strip that away from people is evil.” Another chimed in to say, “Why is this person speaking at a church? What Christian message are they trying to talk about?”
