A researcher who has been working tirelessly to uncover Noah’s Ark has revealed some compelling evidence of its final resting place, sharing that his team is extremely confident that they have found what “has to be the remains” of the Biblical boat.
For context, in a May 13, 2025, interview with CBN News host Billy Hallowell, Andrew Jones of Noah’s Ark Scans explained that his team of researchers has been working at a site near Mount Ararat in Turkey, the location referenced in the book of Genesis as where the ark came to rest. In addition, Jones told Hallowell that his group may be just a few steps away from excavating the ark.
In the interview, Jones told Hallowell about a recent discovery made by his team, saying, “This [time] last year, we had an Australian soil scientist come out there and he suggested a soil test that we could do because we noticed, for example, that the grass growing in this boat formation was a different color than right outside the boat object.” He continued, “So [he] and the local Turkish geologists designed a test, and they got the samples, and we got some … really interesting results.”
Continuing, Jones explained that based on the recent soil samples, they had found signs of decaying wood, as well as “a ship shape,” referring to the full outline of a boat established by his team. He continued, “We have the shape, we have the location matching, we have the length matching exactly in the Bible.” For context, Genesis 6:15 describes the dimensions of the ark, saying, “The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.”
Furthermore, Jones explained that his team has faced multiple obstacles to conducting their research, saying, “If you’re going to pursue a scientific investigation to this site you have to work with a local university, which means you need to find a university and professors who are willing to put their career on the line looking for Noah’s ark.” He added, “People think you’re crazy looking for something like this. And so, yeah, it’s very difficult.”
In addition, Jones told Hallowell about the difficulties in pinning down the location of the ark, referring to the somewhat vague verse that explains its resting place, Genesis 8:4, which reads: “And on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.” Jones said, “That’d be like me saying today, ‘Noah’s ark landed in the mountains of Colorado or the mountains of Canada. It is a general area.”
In a statement released on April 11, 2025, Jones explained that his team’s main priority was “the protection and preservation of the site,” adding, “Before any consideration of excavation, extensive preliminary research, including non-destructive methods like geophysical surveys and core drilling, must be conducted by our Turkish university partners. This scientific work is essential to understand the nature of the subsurface structures.”
Concluding the statement, Jones confirmed that the excavation would not take place in 2025, saying that his team would stay focused on “non-invasive scientific investigation and analysis to ensure any future steps are based on solid evidence and a robust preservation strategy.” However, Jones clarified to Hallowell that he was “positive that this has to be the remains, the decayed, buried remains, of Noah’s ark,” hinting that an excavation may be coming in the near future.
