Famous Hollywood star Rob Schneider recently opened up about his relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom the actor says has “grabbed” him repeatedly when he strays from his faith. He explained that Christianity serves as a firm foundation for anyone looking for purpose in life.
Schneider noted that of all the other religions the world has produced, Christianity is unique in its teachings, which are grounded in humanity. He stated it is a “beautiful way to go through life” grounded in teachings such as loving your neighbor.
“There are other religions out there that say, ‘Well, kill your enemy; hate your enemy,’” Schneider stated. “And we have a religion that says, ‘Love your enemy. Love thy neighbor as thyself … love others.’ What a beautiful way to go through life.”
The comedian further highlights how he felt compelled to live his life as Christ has instructed all his followers. Schneider noted that he is increasingly worshipping God and setting examples for others to follow in acts such as forgiveness.
“So if I am going to lead my life and be an example, as Christ compels us to do, then I have to do it even if it hurts. Even if it stretches how I used to feel. And that is forgiveness. The beautiful thing about forgiveness is it isn’t the person, it’s you who end up feeling better,” he said.
Schneider further claimed that, as a Christian, one can only stray so much before Christ gives you a wake-up call. “I think Jesus only lets you stray so much,” he said. And I think at a certain point, He grabbed me again and hugged me.”
He added how influential his wife has been in his faith journey, stating, “And then [a] very, very strange confluence of things. I married a Catholic, and she was very patient with me, and she’s been the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me.”
For many Christians, the prospect of straying from one’s faith and relationship with Jesus Christ is a genuine issue, especially in the modern state of Western Culture. However, Schneider illustrates that God is patient with us and willing to bring us back home when we decide to return to him. “Like many Christians, I did stray… But there was a continuing pull back, knowing where I needed to be and to be home.”
Schneider further marveled at the wonders of our creation, citing everything from the power of God’s love to the stars in the sky. He points out that the intricate beauty of our existence seems to point to a “celebration of existence.”
“There is something behind all this thing and that is love. And love is God. That’s the creation of everything. When you take a look at the flowers and sperm zoa, there’s way too much of it that seems to be necessary for those flowers to continue. It seems to be there’s not a necessity for all the stars in the skies, [so] there seems to be a celebration of existence,” he said.
