WATCH: Russell Brand Proclaims the Bible as his “Manual For Living”

Famous actor and recent Christian convert Russell Brand shared that the Bible has become the “manual” that instructs him on how to live life.  Since getting baptized earlier this year and professing his faith in Jesus Christ, Brand has frequently spoken publicly about the monumental change in his life.

Taking to X, Brand shared a message from 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, which states, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Brand explained a valuable insight he gained from the verse, “This verse is famously used at weddings, but someone told me that a good way to use this verse is to substitute the famous, ‘love is patient, love is kind,’ with your own name to see if you are up to scratch with these qualities.”

“Russell is patient, Russell is kind,” he said, before listing out Christ-like qualities. “Russell does not envy, Russell does not boast, Russell is not proud. Russell does not dishonor others, Russell is not self-seeking, Russell is not easily angered, Russell keeps no record of wrongs. Russell does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Russell always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” He quipped, “Russell has a lot of work to do.”

Brand continued sharing what the piece of Scripture has taught him, “It helps me recognize that love is something I can be a vessel for. I can be choosing that my conduct is always up to the standard.  We live in this time in the world where people say all the time, ‘There’s no manual for living life.’ There is, and I don’t know why I assumed what was in this book without looking at it.”

Watch Brand’s recent message below:

The Christian Tribune recently reported on other recent comments from Brand in which he is “in the business of serving Christ.”  He said, “In surrendering to Christ, there is something extraordinary about saying there is this man, another man, entirely God, entirely man. But through some necessary, extraordinary, metaphysical act just beyond the edge of rational understanding came the Creator of this simulation came into the simulation and told us ‘Hello, I am God. I’ve come here. Here are some virtues and values,’”

He further stated, “C.S. Lewis talks about the ‘stoics era’…to imagine that one might be able to do always what one can do sometimes. You know, there are times where it’s like…‘I am not in the business of Russell Brand anymore. I am in the business of service. Serve Jesus Christ. And it’s such a powerful idea that I’m held alive by it. But surely, this parasite nature grips me again, and I return to egotism. I return to wanting and longing and fear. And all of those limiting things.”
