The horrific, but fortunately failed, assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump has drawn commentary from nearly every prominent figure in U.S. politics. Conservative media icon Tucker Carlson recently illustrated how the attempt on the Republican presidential nominee’s life plays into the spiritual battle that is going on around us.
“I think what happened on Saturday, the assassination attempt against President Trump, reminded a lot of people, or awakened a lot of people to this. There is a spiritual battle underway,” Carlson said while speaking at a Heritage Foundation event hosted at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Many have pointed out how inconceivable it was for Trump to have survived the shooting, where he walked away relatively unscathed, only having a bullet graze his ear. The shot was likely mere millimeters away from landing a fatal headshot and ending Trump’s life live on television. Therefore, Christian commentators have asserted that God was looking over Trump during the incident.
Tucker maintained that there is no rational explanation for what we are seeing unfold in the U.S. “There is no logical way to understand what we’re seeing now in temporal terms, you just can’t. These are not political divides. There are forces — and they’re very obvious now, they’ve decided, for whatever reason, to take off the mask — whose only goal is chaos, violence, destruction,” he added.
Carlson also claimed there are spiritual forces that seek to undermine Christianity. “What group do they dislike most?” he questioned. “What group are they absolutely terrified of and hoping to eliminate? Well, it’s Christians, that’s who it is. It’s Christians.”
“I haven’t spent my life surrounded by plumes of incense deep in prayer, I spent a life in a newsroom saying the F word,” he said. Tucker added that the evil forces throughout American culture fundamentally hate “Christian nationalists and people who pray outside abortion clinics; people who celebrate Easter, not Trans Visibility Day.”
“Do you want to know what they care about? They only care about war. That’s it, that’s what they care about,” Carlson further stated. “They want the power to kill, that’s it,” he said. “And that’s the power everyone who wants to be God seeks to possess. That’s why human sacrifice was a thing. ‘I have the power to kill.’ Only God has the power over life and death, and that’s the power they want.”

The Christian Tribune previously covered comments from Donald Trump in the wake of the assassination attempt suggesting that he also believed there was a spiritual element to his survival, crediting “God alone.” he said, “Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed. In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win. I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin.”
