In a highly controversial sermon, a woke United Methodist Church Pastor complained about the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was sent back to El Salvador after ICE arrested him in connection with a string of crimes. The pastor took the opportunity to attack the Trump administration and promote left-wing talking points on immigration during his offensive sermon.
As background, progressives have been losing their minds since the Trump administration deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged member of the violent MS-13 gang. Democrats have disputed his well-proven gang ties and dramatically denounced Trump’s mass deportation agenda, using this criminal as their rallying cry.
Starting his rant, the UMC pastor prayed for the MS-13 member. He said, “This morning, we light the candle of peace, hope, and justice for all who are being labeled alien enemies and deported, shackled by fear that they will be next or waiting for news that their loved one is okay. We continue to pray for Kilmore Abrego Garcia, whom the Supreme Court has ordered must be returned home after our government unlawfully kidnapped him to El Salvador.”
Continuing his rant, he listed out other deported gangsters. The pastor whined, “We lift up Arturo Sores-Trejo, who was denied the chance to meet his newborn daughter and instead sent from Texas Detention Center to El Salvador, and we remember the 236 other men living in cage like conditions in the terrorism confinement center, despite only 32 of them having been convicted of any serious crimes.”
In a cynical display, the woke pastor pulled from Scripture to justify his woke rant. He added, “Scripture tells us that on Good Friday, Jesus promised a thief hanging beside him that they would be together in paradise. Now, while we don’t expect Paradise from our government, we do expect due process, while we do not need our leaders to emulate the grace of Jesus.”
Still not done, the pastor attacked the Trump administration. He said, “We yearn for any official who wears a cross to speak words that mirror Jesus’s mercy and compassion, instead of Pontius Pilate’s fear and contentment, Jesus declared the truth will set you free so God make every government official tell the truth that these detention centers have more in common with concentration camps than with prisons, because a prison, by definition, operates within a judicial system.”
Concluding his screed, the pastor parroted tired woke talking points. He said, “A person is arrested, charged, and tried, and if found guilty, sentenced, a concentration camp, on the other hand, functions outside the law. People are detained without a trial, without conviction, held indefinitely, not for what they’ve done, but for who they are.”

When a clip of the incident was posted to X on April 20, 2025, users were incensed by his screed. One of the comments said, “We are at the point of any “pastor/bishop/elder” that wears some sort of costume is 90% likely to be spitting some absolutely hellish heresy. It’s like they’re having a contest to see who can out blaspheme the last one.” Another user said, “I have some correction here: Garcia had (2) deportation orders, not grabbed at random. He was sent back El Salvador, the only country he is a citizen of and that countries government arrest him.”
