A pastor took the stage at the 2025 Democratic National Committee (DNC) and gave a progressive prayer, which sparked a massive backlash on social media. She led the crowd in an interfaith prayer that referenced ‘the Universe’ instead of God. Many users objected to the prayer and found it offensive. This is just one in a series of mega-woke prayers held at the DNC.
“May the endless boundless energy of the universe wrap around you with awe, and love, and well-becoming. Amen, ashe, ameen, and may we together make it so,” the pastor prayed. The term “ashe” comes from the West African Yoruba religion. The other term, ”ameen” is an Arabic term often used to conclude Muslim prayers. Conservatives were quick to pounce on the ridiculous display.
Many commentators criticized the prayer’s absurdity. “I wish I was surprised. The DNC is a joke,” wrote former Republican Representative Derrick Evans. Another user reacted by saying, ” First they erased biology, then they erased morality, now they’re trying to negotiate with the cosmos?” Another commenter quoted scripture to condemn the prayer.
“Philippians 4:6 – Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. They are praying to the enemy. It is as simple as that…,” said one poster. “Oh look, they still didn’t get enough, now they want to get something from the universe 🙂 well, they are asking from the right entity – I hope they get the love they’ve been missing,” wrote another.
Others reacted by questioning the motives of the pastor. “It’s not quite clear if the Democrats are praying to the universe or to themselves. It could be they think there is no difference,” deduced one account. Editor in Cheif at the Post Millenial, Libby Emmons, also took aim at the absurd prayer. In a post to her X account, she said, “Having the “endless, boundless energy of the universe wrap around you” would not result in “awe and love” but death and destruction. Yet this is what the DNC pastor sharing prayer wants for us.”
The DNC has long served as a stage for ridiculous, woke activists. In a recently unearthed video, a speaker at the 2019 DNC conference said socialism was biblical and supported by the Constitution. “Does our policy care for the least of these? Does it lift up those who are most marginalized and dejected in our society? Does it establish justice? If someone calls it socialism, we must compel them to acknowledge that the Bible must then promote socialism,” said Rev. William Barber.
Watch her mega-woke prayer here:
“The Bible says that the nation will be judged by how it treats the poor and the sick and women and the immigrant…. If you want to call caring for both socialism, then the Constitution is a socialist document because
it calls us to promote the general welfare and to establish justice,” he added. While his argument is not supported by the majority of theologians, it does offer insight into the beliefs of the average Democrat.
