In a dramatic sermon posted to social media, Rev. Philip Price decried the defunding of USAID. The pastor described the controversial government agency in glowing terms and gave dire warnings about what would happen in its absence. Online commenters were quick to pounce on the woke preacher, and many users made fun of Price’s theatrics.
“I’m worried. USAID has been gutted. It had 10,000 employees carrying the light of this nation to dark corners around the world, “he dramatically began. ” It shone through Republican administrations and Democrat administrations. It wasn’t seen as partisan. It was seen by both parties as that light that America shined. Right now, babies will be born with AIDS because the supplies of medications have been choked and are no longer available.”
“The Shining City on a Hill has apparently turned off the lights,” he quipped. “I’m aware of people who came to this country out of situations of choking aspiration…They might have heard of a lady in New York Harbor who holds high a torch and lights their way to this land of liberty and opportunity. At her feet are broken chains,” the pastor added.
“And there’s this statement: ‘Give me your tired poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,'” Rev. Price bloviated. “That’s me. She’s calling to me. I’m worried. Has she been silenced? Canceled? Does she no longer speak for this nation? I know those words are not in the Constitution. I know that, but somehow, are they not in the essence, in the heart of what this country is and stands for?”
“I can’t wait till all these woke pastors run out of our saved tax money. God is literally fulfilling what he said he would do to shepherds feeding themselves at the expense of the flock.” one user replied. “It’s a good thing a church can go to the US federal gov’t for support instead of its members,” another pointed out. One X account bluntly said, “Guys like him are of the world, not of Christ.”
“Until we take care of veterans and the homeless in our own country while simultaneously reducing our $36T national debt and trillion dollar deficits, we need not to be lectured about foregoing the funneling money into an inefficient and likely corrupt NGO,” another astute commenter pointed out. Rev. Philip Price is not the only minister to preach on this topic recntly.
As we reported, Rev. Dr. Duke Lackey criticized The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in a recent sermon at North Raleigh United Methodist Church. In his rant, Lackey complained about budget cuts at USAID.”What the bishops address in the Letter This week, [is] the 90-day ban given …for recipients of United States Aid,” he said. “As United Methodists, we partner with USAID through the United Methodist Committee On Relief. We are able to send food and supplies to war-torn regions in the world because we work in conjunction with our government.”
Watch the Pastor’s Woke Rant Here:
“I believe that one role of the government is to allow the church to do the work of the church. We need it. We can’t go into a war-torn region safely. We need what government can offer to do the work of the church,” the methodist pastor concluded. Online commentators were quick to pounce on the progressive minister, with many noticing his hypocrisy.
