Speaking at a far-left protest, Michael Vanacore of Pilgrim Church in Wheatland, compared the recent deportation of Kilmar Abrego-Garcia to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. His woke remarks drew harsh criticism from online conservatives who blasted Vanacore for his blasphemous screed.
For context, Kilmar Abrego-Garcia was deported by the Department of Homeland Security for his ties to the violent Salvadoran gang MS-13. Garcia, who was an illegal immigrant, has become a rallying point for the far left, who oppose his deportation despite his proven ties to organized crime.
Starting off his rant, the woke pastor compared the illegal gangster to Christ. He said, “He has been falsely accused, just like Jesus. He has been ripped away from his loved ones, just like Jesus. And he is being subjected to the most horrific forms of abuse and humiliation at the hands of the state, just like Jesus. He is being crucified.”
Continuing his blasphemous rant, he demanded that the government return the illegal immigrant to the United States. Vanacore complained, “We call on the government to do for Kilmar what they did not do for Jesus. Take him down off the cross. Return him alive and well to the arms of his loved ones.”
Making a tenuous argument, the pastor said that the real lesson of Easter is to adopt modern progressive values, saying, “This is the lesson that we should learn from Holy Week: that when we look upon the face of Kilmar, but not just Kilmar, but Jennifer and her family and all the people who suffer unjust persecution. When we look on their faces, we should see the face of the suffering Christ. We should see the face of Christ.
Still not done, he likened deportations of illegal criminals to the act of crucifixion. Vanacore declared, “At the risk of putting too fine a point on it, for every single soul that they send to that hell hole in El Salvador, we, the United States, are putting another nail in Jesus’s body.”
Concluding his woke screed, made his final argument. He said, “They, every single one of the people detained and deported to that prison, they are the ones whom the Salvadoran priest and martyr Ignacio EllacurĂa called the crucified peoples of the world. The crucified peoples of the world. And the only response, especially in Holy Week, the only response is to take them down from the cross.”

As we reported, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized the mainstream media’s narrative about Garcia. She said, “The Democrat and media outrage over the deportation of Abrego Garcia, an MS 13, El Salvadorian, illegal alien, criminal who is hiding in Maryland, has been nothing short of despicable.”
Continuing her remarks, she said, “Based on the sensationalism of many of the people in this room, you would think we deported a candidate for Father of the Year. That’s because, unfortunately, many in this country care more about this, quote, unquote, Maryland father, illegal alien, MS, 13 gang member, than a Maryland mother and an American citizen who was brutally murdered at the hands of a different illegal alien.”
