Famous rockstar Jon Bon Jovi made headlines for saving a woman’s life while filming a music video in Nashville, Tennessee. Footage of the incident shows a woman standing on the outside of the railing on a pedestrian bridge, appearing to be contemplating on jumping and taking her life. However, new details surrounding the incident reveal that Bon Jovi’s faith played a role in his brave actions.
According to a report in the New York Times, “In a video released by the police, Mr. Bon Jovi and another person, whom other news outlets have identified as a production assistant, slowly approach the woman, who is on the edge of the bridge, facing outward, on the far side of a railing. They are seen speaking to her for a minute or so, before she turns around to face them, and they lift her over the railing to safety. Mr. Bon Jovi then hugs the woman and the three walk together along the bridge, attended by law enforcement officials.”
As the incident unfolded, Bon Jovi was working on a project with the Nashville-based band The War & Treaty. Michael Trotter Jr., who plays in the band, described how God and Bon Jovi’s faith played a role. “So we had just got finished shooting a music video, and we hugged Jon, and we left, and 20 minutes later, the situation takes place,” Trotter said.
“I don’t even think he was originally supposed to walk the bridge, but something inside of him and his team said, ‘Let’s go on the bridge.’” He added, “Just goes to show you how he’s guided. Faith leads us all, doesn’t it? So thank God for Jon.”
“A shout out to @jonbonjovi & his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Ped Bridge Tue night,” the Metro Nashville Police Department shared on X after the incident, praising the rock star. “Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety.”
“There’s so much taking place in this video. How did some people walk by without doing anything?! Who is that photographer! Most importantly what a mitzvah by JBJ,” one person on X wrote. “This moved me to tears. In a time of such division and hardship, I can truly feel the love in his actions. Well done, @jonbonjovi. A beautiful example of empathy and kindness,” another said.
Popular conservative commentator Collin Rugg initially shared the footage to X, writing, “Singer Jon Bon Jovi saves a woman from jumping off a bridge in Nashville, Tennessee while filming a music video. Good man. Bon Jovi was seen approaching a 62-year-old woman on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. The musician leaned over the railing before hoisting the woman to safety and embracing her.”
